The Picnic Ale is inspired by the start of Spring (although you wouldn’t know it’s Spring right now...). The name was derived from everything that Spring represents - heading out for a Picnic when the suns out, with great food, company and for us a beer that compliments these elements perfectly.

This beer is inspired by an English Bitter with a low alcohol weight of only 3.8% (mid strength). But don’t be fooled by the low booze, it has great flavour, body and aroma. It has a cooper appearance from the significant specialty malt additions. There’s a hint of nutty characters and a low to medium residual malt sweetness, which backs up the bitterness well.

The hop bitterness is medium and well balanced. We’ve used US cascade for bittering and flavour during the boil.

We’ve dry hopped it with Amarillo and Centennial hops, giving it this lovely floral citrus character - which, somewhat encapsulates that warm Spring day when the trees are budding and all the amazing smells in the air.
